Hewo! I am Jasmine from Malaysia. I come from a small town called Bintulu located on Borneo Island, so yes, I am “island gyal”. Malaysia is best known for its melting pot of culture. Growing up as the minority ethnic in Malaysia has inspired me a lot about the importance of representation including in our voices and even in art performance. Hence, I am very thrilled to share with you the beauty of my culture from the East of Malaysia. As someone who grew up surrounded by lush rainforests, vibrant traditions, and the warmth of community, I carry a deep appreciation for the richness of my heritage. Whether it’s through cultural showcases, art, food, or storytelling, I hope to be a bridge that connects others to the vibrant soul of Borneo.
