Hi everyone! I’m Chandni, a doctoral student from India studying Human Development and Family Studies. Outside of my research and TA responsibilities, I like to stay involved on campus. I’m a Peer Resident Mentor at Eagle Heights, supporting an incredible community of students with families, postdocs, staff, and faculty. I also serve as the Peer Mentor Coordinator for the SoHE Graduate Student Organization and am honored to be one of the seventeen Morgridge Fellows this year. When I’m not deep in academic reading, you will probably find me exploring new food joints around Madison with friends, traveling with my family, or chatting with new people because everyone has a story worth hearing (and probably a great restaurant recommendation too). As a member of ISSAB, I’m excited to contribute ideas shaped by my lived experience, particularly around the unique challenges international students face. I hope to advocate for more culturally responsive mental health support, peer mentorship opportunities, and clearer communication around immigration policies. As a student parent, I also want to highlight the needs of international families by promoting inclusive events that foster community and belonging. I see ISSAB as a vital platform to ensure international student voices are not just heard but truly reflected in campus support and programming.
