SUMMER ORIENTATION

Summer 2017 Orientation

Welcome New International Students!

The ISS staff is looking forward to meeting you and welcoming you to UW-Madison.

Please see the information below about orientation for new students beginning their program or returning on an initial attendance I-20 during the summer of 2017.

Although you will be invited and required to attend a variety of orientation programs, the ISS Orientation is MANDATORY and is designed specifically to address the needs of international students. The US Department of Homeland Security requires international student visa holders to register with their school prior to beginning their academic program in the U.S.  By checking in and attending an ISS orientation, you will be completing this mandatory obligation.

STEP 1: Log into MyUW and go to your Student Center

–Update your mailing address to reflect your local address in Madison.
Mailing Address – Your local address in Madison
Home Address – Your foreign address

–Access the local address and emergency contact registration tool in MyUW. You can also search for the “Emergency Info” app MyUW. Your emergency contact is the person the university can contact in case you are injured, missing, or incapacitated.  Your emergency contact can be someone here or abroad.  If you encounter problems while doing this, please contact the DoIT Help Desk.

Note: These two system do not communicate with each other so they need to be updated separately.

Please complete step 1 before coming to ISS.

STEP 2: Check in with ISS

Within a few days of arriving, please bring your passport, I-20 or DS-2019, your local address in Madison, and your Net ID and password for MyUW so that we can scan your documents and verify that you have completed step 1 above.
