Welcome New International Students!
The ISS staff is looking forward to meeting you and welcoming you to UW-Madison.
Please see the information below about orientation for new students beginning their program or returning on an initial attendance I-20 during the summer of 2016.
Although you will be invited and required to attend a variety of orientation programs, the ISS Orientation is MANDATORY and is designed specifically to address the needs of international students. The US Department of Homeland Security requires international student visa holders to register with their school prior to beginning their academic program in the U.S.Â By checking in and attending an ISS orientation, you will be completing this mandatory obligation.Â Â
STEP 1: Log into MyUW
Note: These two system do not communicate with each other so they need to be updated separately.
Please complete step 1 before coming to ISS.
STEP 2: Check in with ISS
Within a few days of arriving, please bring your passport, I-20 or DS-2019, your local address in Madison, and your Net ID and password for MyUW so that we can scan your documents and verify that you have completed step 1 above.Â

STEP 3: Attend ISS orientation
Choose one of the sessions below. All sessions will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 pm in the Red Gym. No registration is necessary but arrive by 2:45 p.m. Late arrivals will be turned away. Please check the Red Gym schedule at the front door for room location.
