Capitol Reception (Volunteers)
Madison Friends of International Students hosts a gathering at the State Capitol Building each winter (usually in February) for all international students and visitors. Students enjoy refreshments in one of the beautiful Capitol reception rooms while a member of the Wisconsin State legislature offers a breif explanation of his/her job and describes how the State government works. The reception is followed by a tour of the Capitol itself, giving international visitors an introduction to Wisconsin's history, and a chance to see the legislative rooms, the beautiful murals and architecture. MFIS members provide refreshments and have an opportunity to visit with students as part of this event.
Our Capitol Reception for 2013 will be held on Sunday, February 24, from 1-3pm in the Senate Parlor Room of the Wisconsin State Capitol. Volunteers are welcome to visit with students and bring refreshments for the event. To sign up, contact the MFIS office or call 263-4010.
