See Yellow Pages, Taxicabs. Zone cabs (e.g. Badger Cab) are cheaper than meter cabs for the individual, but the driver may have other passengers and you may have to wait your turn to reach your destination. You can either hail a zone cab on the street, or telephone for one.
Meter cabs (e.g. Union Cab) are quicker if time is important. A meter cab will take you directly to your destination rather than make many stops for other passengers. Meter cabs are cheaper for a group, since there is no charge for additional passengers. You have to call a meter cab by telephone. Union Cab operates an Airport Limousine Service (242-2005).
HITCHHIKING is illegal in parts of the U.S.A. There are many hazards involved, and the practice is not to be encouraged. In Madison, hitchhiking is allowed if the hitchhiker stands on the curb, but it is illegal if his feet are in the roadway.
