Women's Transit Authority (WTA) is a non profit women only late night ride service, serving women throughout the Madison area. WTA offers rides from 8:00 pm to 2:00 am every night. Call 256 SAFE (7233). WTA is privately funded and not affiliated with the UW.
There are 36 emergency/assistance telephones at 12 campus locations. These telephones have blue light above them and are labeled "Phone for Police Help." When you take the phone off the hook, you have a direct connection to a dispatcher at campus Police and Security. The dispatcher will know the exact location of the phone you are using, except if you are inside the library stacks or at the Chemistry Building. If you call from one of those locations, please try to identify the stack level or the floor. If you use one of these phones, an officer will be sent to assist you immediately, even if you have not said anything to the dispatcher on the phone. Pick up the brochure titled "Nighttime Transportation and Security," available at MFIS,INC. for more information.
