DRIVER'S LICENSE

For information contact the Division of Motor Vehicles, 4802 Sheboygan Avenue, 266-2353. You can use your driver's license from your home country for driving in Wisconsin if you are going to stay for less than one year. If your home country driver's license is in a language other than English, go to the Division of Motor Vehicles to get a form for translating your license. Carry the translation with your license. An International Driver's License is also valid for one year of driving in Wisconsin.

You must have a Wisconsin driver's license to drive a car if you become a U.S. permanent resident, or if you stay in Wisconsin for more than one year.

DRIVING INSTRUCTION

If your driving experience is limited, Madison Area Technical College, 211 N. Carroll St., offers a Driver Education Course. For information on schedules and fees, call 258 2450. If you do not have a valid license, you must have a Learner's Permit to take driving lessons on the road.

Commercial driving schools are listed in the Yellow Pages, "Driving Instruction." These fees are higher, but the instructor will bring the car to you.
